Exhibition telling the story of comics and video games on an unprecedented scale

The Centre for Comics and Interactive Narrative is an exhibition created at one of the largest Polish educational parks – EC1 Łódź. The exhibition offers several themed zones, which allow the visitors to broaden their knowledge related to interactive narratives used in video games and comic books in a modern manner.

The Retro Zone, where the origin of the video game market in Poland and around the world is presented, enables visitors to familiarise themselves with the topic using touch applications we created, and play game consoles we properly modified.

In the GameLab Zone, the visitors discover each of the 7 stages of making video games, while numerous interviews with creators that we conducted allow them to find out how complicated this process is. An additional attraction offered in this zone is the possibility of presenting your own idea for a game and registering your speech using a camera installed at the stand.

The centre also presents technological novelties, which are displayed in the VR/AR zone, where you can use applications functioning in the world of virtual reality and mixed reality. The AR (augmented reality) game we created, which allows visitors to solve riddles in a specially prepared Escape Room space, is quite an attraction offered in this place. In addition, the zone provides more information on the video game market – this option is offered at the stand that refers to one of the popular scenes from “Minority Report”. In the zone, you can also play one of several VR games or test the possibilities offered by Microsoft Hololens goggles.

The Comic Book Zone occupies one of the largest spaces at the centre. With two levels of exhibitions, thanks to numerous touch applications, guests can discover genres of comic books, stories behind them or techniques used to create them. The exhibition space also hosts numerous stands presenting silhouettes of comic book creators and interviews with them in the form of videos.

To complete the project, we also prepared a wide range of 2D and 3D animations, which we used to create video mapping and 3D holograms placed in various zones of the exhibition.
