Training programme in the form of a VR application

Customer: Tauron

Implementation date: March 2025

For Tauron, we have created an advanced VR application that prepares young electrical switchgear operators for work in a demanding energy environment in a realistic and safe manner. Our goal was to replicate real working conditions and create a training tool that combines learning with full immersion in the virtual world, enabling the acquisition of practical skills without risk.

For the purposes of the project, we reconstructed a complete electrical substation in detail, both its interior and external infrastructure. Each element was reproduced with the utmost attention to detail so that the VR environment would reflect as faithfully as possible the real objects that energy engineers work with on a daily basis.

A key element of the application is a training module that uses a virtual thermal imaging gun. We have created a fully functional model of the device, in which all parameters, settings and reactions reflect the behaviour of real equipment. Participants can diagnose simulated failures and identify thermal irregularities, learning the correct procedures for dealing with emergency situations.

The application offers multiple operating modes – from learning mode to advanced test scenarios – as well as variable atmospheric conditions that affect the interpretation of thermal imaging camera readings. This makes the training as close as possible to real-life conditions, where environmental factors play a key role in the diagnostic process.

The tool we have created serves as a modern simulator used for the education and verification of the competences of future power engineers. We are proud to have been able to support Tauron in building an innovative training system that improves safety, develops practical skills and allows users to gain experience in a controlled, fully immersive VR environment.
